Teleworking is a reality in the work environment in Spain
After the experience of teleworking during the pandemic, 88% of professionals consider it positive, according to the study 'Teleworking: a reality after the pandemic', presented today at EADA Business School. This study tries to understand how teleworking has evolved in Spain, its degree of acceptance, the barriers it has encountered since its forced implementation due to the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020.
The study data shows that the hybrid formula - which combines remote work with in-person work - is the majority in organizations, used by 52% of those surveyed.
PhD Aline Masuda, EADA professor and director of the study, in collaboration with EADA researchers and alumni Luciano Strucchi and Edgar Quero, highlights that "teleworking is here to stay." Most professionals (53%) do not find barriers to working from home, and companies have learned to manage this modality.
However, a third of companies (34%) still resist teleworking, reducing or eliminating it. This generates dissatisfaction among employees, especially the younger generations and women, who would be willing to change jobs if they are not offered the possibility of teleworking.
The study also reveals that:
- 91% of those surveyed believe that teleworking is an option that is here to stay.
- The hybrid formula, with one or two days of teleworking a week, is the most popular.
- The main advantages of teleworking are time flexibility, work-life balance and reduction in travel time.
- The main barriers to teleworking are the lack of physical space at home, family interruptions and difficulty maintaining concentration.
- Companies that do not offer teleworking may lose talent, especially among younger generations and women.
- 33% of those surveyed recognize the disconnection with their coworkers and their work environment.
In short, teleworking has been consolidated as a reality in the world of work in Spain. Companies that do not adapt to this trend run the risk of losing competitiveness and talent.
