EADA takes part in the first edition of Barcelona MBA Day
600 Full-Time MBA students took part in the first successful edition of Barcelona MBA Day. The participants from EADA's MBA, IESE and ESADE, the top three accredited business schools in Barcelona for MBAs worldwide, attended the initiative which was organised by Barcelona Global. Its main aims were to highlight Barcelona’s competitiveness from a business, cultural and technological innovation perspective and also to attract and retain international MBA talent. Increasingly MBA students consider staying to work for Barcelona-based companies once they finish their studies in the city.
The students, who came from 120 different countries but mainly from America, Brazil, India, China and Germany were divided into groups of 25. They spent the day visiting multinationals, local companies, research centres, startups and places of cultural interest and entertainment. During their visits, the participants had the chance to talk to senior management in each of the companies about what they do and in what way they are global leaders. In total, 64 companies and institutions took part. These included: Barcelona Supercomputing Center, Barcelona Tech City, Sincrotrón, Telefónica, Accenture, Barcelona Activa, Mobile World Capital Foundation, CaixaBank, Sanofi, Palau de la Música, the Círculo Ecuestre and the Sant Pau Recinte Modernista.
Barcelona MBA Day gave these future global executives, who have just started their MBA studies, firsthand experience of some of the entrepreneurial, economic and cultural aspects Barcelona has to offer. It also acted as a way of encouraging students to stay in the city once they finish their studies and become good ambassadors of the Barcelona brand.
The event also showcased the excellence of higher education in Barcelona. The city not only boasts some of the top business schools but it is also the 6th global city of choice among MBA students after Boston, New York, London, Paris and Chicago.
