EADA Podcast: STUDIO 22 - Reskill to Regenerate: Sustainable regeneration from the business world
We invite you to EADA Podcast: STUDIO 22 - Reskill to Regenerate: Sustainable regeneration from the business world
The current climate of heightened uncertainty, resulting from the financial crises, the technological revolution, climate change, increased social inequality and mass migration, highlight the role of companies and their responsibility to become the drivers of change to regenerate the ecosystem. The latest challenges of the 21st century require companies to rethink their commercial and production models so they can make a positive impact in society and their environment. The challenge no longer lies in minimising their negative impact, but rather maximising their positive impact. Clearly, the time has come to act and adopt a proactive approach to restoring and revitalising ecosystems.
In this new podcast we want to explore some best practices from some companies and how are they redefining their business models and generating a positive impact on society. In the first part of the podcast, we will talk to Ph.D. Jatinder J. Singh,Professor at EADA’s Department of Marketing, Operations and Supply, about his academic research on corporate and consumer ethics.
Professor Singh will share the table with another professor from the same department, Ph.D. Rita Difrancesco, whose research interests focus on omnichannel retailing, product returns management, closed-loop supply chains and sustainability. Difrancesco will reflect on how companies are changing their logistics and supply chain strategies to improve their positive impact or to reduce their CO2 emissions.
In the second part, we will have the chance to reflect on the connection among business decisions, the Earth’s natural systems and the economy. We will do it along with EADA Alumnus Daragh Cogley (Master in Sustainable Business and Innovation, Class 2021-22), EU Bioeconomy Youth Ambassador and KAM at BCome. In this opinion, “the ability to think in systems gives us the opportunity to solve these wicked problems and imagine a better world, in which business must be sustainable and regenerative, rather than destructive or less bad.” Daragh will debate on this topic with Ph.D. Julia Wolny, Associate Professor at EADA with wide expertise in Digital Innovation Strategy, who will tell us about sustainable fashion: challenges, strategies and future scenarios. In her opinion, “businesses need to capture the importance and power of marketing to help change systems.”
