EADA Business School collaborates in the launch of Eduquem+B, a pioneering initiative to assess and improve the sustainability skills of young people from Barcelona
EADA Business School is joining the launch of Eduquem+B, a project promoted by Barcelona+B that aims to position Barcelona as a world leader in sustainability through the integration of this topic in education.
With the support of Barcelona Activa, the B Lab Spain Foundation and Ferrer, the initiative makes available to young people between 16 and 24 years of age in the metropolitan region of Barcelona a free self-diagnosis test, called “Be Ready For Now”, designed to assess their sustainability skills.
Tool to measure key sustainability skills
The test, consisting of 48 questions based on the European framework of sustainability skills GreenComp, explores four essential areas to face sustainability challenges: the internalization of sustainable values, the management of complexity, the vision of a sustainable future and action in favour of sustainability. By offering this self-diagnosis, Eduquem+B seeks not only to give students a tool for self-knowledge, but also to collect data to prepare a public report on the state of sustainability skills among young people in Barcelona.
Promoting alliances between educational institutions and companies with a positive impact
In addition to its educational objective, Eduquem+B encourages collaboration between high school, vocational training and university centres, promoting the integration of sustainability in a transversal way.
At the presentation event, held at EADA Business School, the role of Eduquem+B was highlighted as a bridge that connects educational institutions with companies and organisations with a positive impact. Jordi Díaz, Dean and Director General of EADA, stressed that participation in this type of project is key for new generations to enter the labour market with a solid awareness of sustainability, as well as to promote their development as agents of change in the business field.
First educational institutions to join Eduquem+B
Nine educational institutions have been the first to join the initiative and to implement the “Be Ready For Now” test among their students, including the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and several schools and high schools in the city. To facilitate the application of the test, the project provides teachers with a pedagogical guide that allows its integration in the classroom.
Perspectives from the business and academic fields
During the presentation event, sustainability experts discussed the importance of training young people not only in environmental skills, but also in social and governance skills, crucial elements to face global challenges from a holistic perspective. Cristina Kiskery, Director of Talent and Culture at Ferrer, and Federica Massa-Saluzzo, Chief Sustainability Officer at EADA, agreed on the need to collaborate in an educational approach that promotes critical thinking, empathy and an open mind. EADA Business School's commitment to sustainability
For EADA Business School, the collaboration in Eduquem+B is part of its commitment to train leaders who are aware of their social and environmental impact. In the words of Belén Viloria, executive director of B Lab Spain, “Eduquem+B is a transformative initiative that, from a local perspective, contributes to positioning Barcelona as a global benchmark in sustainability.”
This project promises to be the beginning of a network of entities committed to developing sustainable skills among young people, preparing future generations to lead positive changes in all sectors and industries.
