The first edition of the EADA-SKEMA Global BBA starts in Barcelona
On the 8th of September, we kicked off the first edition of the EADA-SKEMA Global BBA. A total of 83 participants from 30 nationalities from all over the world started their journey at EADA: a 4-year transformative journey full of knowledge and leadership competencies, preparation to tackle today’s business challenges and inspiration to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
During the welcome session, EADA’s Dean Dr Jordi Díaz told about “a special day that marks a new chapter in EADA history because it represents the first step of the school in the undergraduates' programmes segment”. To him, “the alliance with the fully accredited and very well-positioned SKEMA Business School grew out of a commitment to creating future leaders committed to responsible leadership, who can extend these values in their organisations and their communities.” According to Díaz, “this is a different programme that is not only about business administration, but about a global perspective, that will let our participants make a difference in the world.”
EADA’s Academic Director, Dr. Ramon Noguera, also addressed the first promotion of this bachelor programme: “The intercultural experience -from the other students and professors- and the international mobility will prepare you to understand the complexity of the business world and to access the international job market.” The Programme Director, Dr Bruno Cohanier, highlighted the cross-disciplinary approach: “One of the most important aspects of the EADA-SKEMA Global BBA is its systemic thinking and cross-disciplinary approach to management education because during the programme you will learn the basics of management, marketing and finance as the fields of politics and economics in an international context.”
In the same line, Alice Guilhon, Dean & Executive President of SKEMA, focused on the competencies and abilities that they will learn to adapt business models to different workplaces, and how to develop a business in a globalized world. As Guilhon told them, “take advantage of this unique opportunity to mix with people from around the world and from different backgrounds and also to learn from different cultures.” To Patrice Houdayer, Director of Programs, International and Student Life of SKEMA Business School, “this programme addresses students who will be willing to start a career just after graduation because the programme is 100% focused on employability.”
Facing challenges from the first day
After the welcome session, our Global BBA participants started working together facing different challenges in a business game. Specifically, they were challenged to develop a strategy related to several variables: sale price, number and salary of salespeople, hiring/firing workers, quality of the product, etc. Students from EADA’s Campus collaborated with those from 2 SKEMA Business School campuses in France (Sophia Antipolis Campus in Vallbonne and Lille Campus, in Lille), who are also undertaking a Global BBA. The activity connected a total of 873 students and provided a unique opportunity to share diverse perspectives on a business problem, by analysing different solutions and testing the sensitivity of the market to decisions.
Students enjoyed this first joint activity. For instance, William Doye, from France, highlighted “the great opportunity to make friends from the first day and to analyse a challenge from different perspectives and backgrounds.” To Flavien Booth, from the UK, “this is a transformative journey, first in Barcelona and two years later in different campuses of SKEMA Business School, that I am sure will let me grow and mature and acquire new skills.” According to Yasmine El Abed, from Tunisia, “I am expecting to know new people from a lot of countries, to discover new cultures and to obtain a double degree at the end of the programme, which will improve my employability.”
The most global BBA
This is the most global BBA on the market. Participants start in Barcelona, at EADA, where will stay for two years. In the third year, they can choose up to 7 specialisations that take place at one of SKEMA’s international campuses spread over the 5 continents with a duration of 12 to 24 months. Specifically, participants will have the chance to travel abroad visiting some of the following countries: Brazil, China, France, South Africa or the United States. In the fourth year, they will choose between returning to the EADA’s Campus to take the ‘Sustainability Innovation’ specialization or completing one of the 6 remaining specialisations in other countries. Five specialisations will be carried out in France (Entrepreneurship & Business Administration, Corporate Finance, Marketing, Luxury Brand Management, Sustainable Development & social Responsibility) and one in the United States (International Business).
This international experience is reinforced with multicultural classes (with students from more than 120 nationalities and classes 100% in English), the diverse profile of the faculty and professionals in class, the focus on global challenges in the case studies and the networking with experts from companies from around the world.
Once they finished the BBA programme, participants will receive a Diplôme d’Estudes Supérieures en Management International des Enterprises from SKEMA Business School (accredited by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research) as well as an official diploma from EADA Business School.
