EADA to expand as it adds a second campus in central Barcelona
The expansion of EADA Business School in 2022, following the launch of the Global Bachelor in Business Administration (GBBA) in joint partnership with the French business school SKEMA, has brought forward the decision by EADA Foundation’s Board of Trustees to open a second campus in Barcelona. The 4,200 m² building, located on calle Provença 216, has recently been fully refurbished and includes onsite parking. This new building joins the existing campus on calle Aragó, 204 (4,500 m²) and the Collbató campus (9,000 m²) for the development of management training. The new campus will host the bachelor's students and is due to open in 2023, coinciding with the launch of the second bachelor's programme in technology.
As with the refurbishment of the campus building on calle Aragó, inaugurated in 2019, the decision to acquire a new campus close to the current one was based on the value students and corporate partners place on its central location in Barcelona, which offers an experience of total immersion in the city. According to the President of EADA’s Board of Trustees, Koke Pursals, the opening of a second campus in Barcelona, “is aligned with the expansion of the school and above all, with the importance our participants have always given the central location of the campus in the city”.
The real estate operation, managed by Cushman & Wakefield, includes full occupancy of the building on a leasehold basis. Grupo Catalana Occidente has refurbished the property to the highest quality standards, achieving the LEED certification, which is a globally recognised symbol of sustainability to create buildings which are environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. The new campus on calle Provença also shares architectural similarities with the campus on calle Aragó, which will facilitate its identification as an EADA building for students and members of the public.
According to Natalia Tost, partner at Cushman & Wakefield, “EADA has chosen an urban-friendly property for its expansion, which is becoming increasingly common for companies in all sectors. The centre of Barcelona is in great demand as it facilitates the hybrid work model due to its proximity to other districts in Barcelona and good transport connections with other municipalities in the metropolitan area”. She also adds that, “this building will be key to EADA’s growth as it responds to the needs of current participants and is 100% aligned with its ESG policies”.
The building’s façade has also undergone a refurbishment to achieve a unique aesthetic and improved standards of energy efficiency and acoustic performance. Inside the building, the lighting, air renewal and air conditioning systems include a permanent monitoring mechanism and both terraces and the interior courtyard have a landscaped area with automatic irrigation. All of the parking spaces have electric chargers, which will promote the use of non-polluting vehicles.
