The wine sector in Catalonia seeks professionalization with the support of EADA
The Wine Business School, a business school for the winegrowing/winemaking sector, was recently set up in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona) with the backing of The Wine School Foundation. It has entrusted EADA to design customised training programmes targeted at entrepreneurs and executives in the sector. These are business management and administration programmes adapted to the real needs of different stakeholders in the industry, mainly wineries.
The ties between the two institutions were formalised in an agreement which has a double objective. On the one hand to further the international projection of the main wineries, appellations of origin, credit institutions as well as other stakeholders in the public and private sector in Catalonia, and secondly, to address the corporate interests of these managers and promote their leadership.

Professionalization of the sector
This collaboration dates back to February 20th when The Wine Business School commenced its first course on “Internationalisation and retail in the winegrowing sector” imparted by EADA in Vilafranca del Penedès over four weekends. Pau Roig, director of the EADA Corporate area, views this first collaboration in a very positive light: “As a pilot programme it has enabled us to detect positive aspects and points for improvement in order to provide company owners and executives in the sector with key tools through customised training focused on improving their managerial skills”.
Furthermore, Roig had this to say: “this programme goes to show that EADA is able to finely tune in to the specific circumstances of a particular company or sector”. And he went on to add that for example, “this year we have run very specific training projects for the pharmaceutical and veterinary sectors as well as for different managerial profiles from cooperatives”. According to him “the aim is to help them accomplish their strategic objectives through specific training suited to their needs but which at the same time provides them with a holistic overview of corporate leadership”.
Other lines of collaboration
But the agreement signed with The Wine School Foundation also provides stakeholders in the winegrowing/winemaking sector with access to EADA’s programme portfolio –including custom programmes such as the Executive programmes–, with scholarships and special payment terms.
What’s more, EADA will be organising different lectures at The Wine Business School aimed at addressing their queries and updating their knowledge of company management and latest trends in the sector.
