EADA is broadening its training options targeted at the pharmaceutical sector. As of next October it will be offering a Master in Pharmaceutical Industry Management, in conjunction with the Institut Universitari de Ciència i Tecnologia (IUCT) – INKEMIA, a benchmark innovation and technology development center in the life sciences sector.
This programme’s added value lies in that it combines technical and scientific modules, imparted by IUCT - INKEMIA along with specialised modules designed by EADA in business management. The duration of the Master is 450 class hours. It will have a very practical approach, finely tuned to the real demands of professionals in this sector and will also include the drawing up of a final project and 600 hours of internship in various companies.
Managers with a 360º vision
“The IUCT – INKEMIA and EADA Master in Pharmaceutical Industry Management addresses the training needs of middle managers in the pharmaceutical industry” points out Josep Castells, CEO of the technology centre. That’s why, he goes on to add “the programme is targeted at both university graduates who want to focus more on the management side than the on scientific research and on those who already have broad experience in the scientific field and are considering redirecting their career towards the field of management”.
Along the same lines, Miquel Espinosa, general director of EADA, stresses that “the new programme will bring business management closer to technical-scientific profiles, who increasingly require more and more managerial competencies and skills to leader teams, negotiating and communication capabilities to build relations with different stakeholders and the necessary tools for developing new business lines”.
In addition to providing a comprehensive perspective of the sector, the main objective of this joint Master is to provide total immersion in all areas related to the pharmaceutical industry. According to Mr Castells “the participants will be immersed in work tasks related with pharmaceutical development and manufacturing in a pilot pharmaceutical plant accredited by the Agencia Española del Medicamento but they will also acquire managerial and team work skills and will be required to come up with innovative solutions”.
Apart from designing and running the master, the two institutions are also considering various lines of collaboration in the short term. One of them would be the setting up of training programmes with the same double technical-scientific and management approach, targeted at professionals in the chemical, food, biotechnology and cosmetics sectors –these are precisely the other sectors in which IUCT – INKEMIA operates–. Another challenge would be to extend these same programmes internationally.
